History
The Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company was opened back in 1950 by Russell and Virginia Schneider. It quickly became a thriving fabric and sewing center in the community. Russell and Virginia owned the store for a total of 39 years before passing the torch to one of their sewing machine technicians. In April of 1989, Denny Lutz took over the sewing machine portion of the business, and later purchased the entire business from the couple. On September 1, 1991, Denny Lutz moved the business to its current location, nestled in the picturesque and historic Washington Street. In 2021, the Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company exchanged hands again for the third time after Denny's retirement. The Fourniers, owners of the Story City shop It’s Sew Tempting, continuing the shop's 74-year legacy and tradition of offering quality fabrics, notions, machine repair, and friendly customer service.
