The Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company opened in 1950 under the ownership of Russell and Virginia Schneider, quickly becoming a thriving fabric and sewing center in the community. Russell and Virginia operated the store for 39 years before passing the torch to one of their sewing machine technicians.

In April 1989, Denny Lutz took over the sewing machine portion of the business and later purchased the entire store from the Schneiders. On September 1, 1991, he moved the business to its current location on picturesque, historic Washington Street.

In 2021, following Denny’s retirement, the Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company changed hands for the third time. The Fourniers, owners of the Story City shop It’s Sew Tempting, are proudly continuing the store’s 74 year legacy of offering quality fabrics, notions, machine repair, and friendly customer service.
